Tanticchia for the environment

Sustainability is a complex and multifaceted topic. In recent years, it has become a buzzword, but here at Tanticchia, we take the topic extremely seriously, as it should. Fashion is one of the most impactful industries globally. Its supply chain is highly complex and encompasses diverse industries, from agriculture to textiles, logistics, and metallurgy.

At Tanticchia, we understand that producing new garments inevitably has a negative impact on the environment. That's why we don't and will never misuse terms like "zero impact" or "carbon neutral."

This section is dedicated entirely to explaining what we actually do regarding the environmental impact of our company and our products.

Materials chosen with care
Materials are among the most impactful elements in the production of a garment, more so than transportation or the energy used to manufacture the products. For this reason, the choice of materials becomes crucial. Unfortunately, it's not an easy task. The impact of individual materials depends on the impact category considered: some materials require fewer resources to be produced but emit microplastics with every wash; other materials require significant amounts of water and chemicals to be ready for use. At Tanticchia, we believe that the most responsible choices are natural, recycled or organically grown materials. We currently use organic cotton as our primary material, which requires far less water and chemicals to produce than traditional cotton. In addition to cotton, Tanticchia also uses deadstock (end-of-roll and unsold) or recycled (including post-consumer) textile materials to minimize the production of virgin materials. Tanticchia strives to use single-fiber materials, which can be more easily recycled at the end of their life, even with current technologies. Upcycled collections have no limitations regarding the use of materials: in this case, the starting point is existing resources, and the goal of the initiative is precisely to enhance them.

A Tanticchia slower production
Tanticchia produces timeless pieces, allowing you to make purchases that last. Unconstrained by trends and seasons, Tanticchia produces exclusively on pre-order basis to avoid stock and unsold items. Overproduction is a major problem in the industry, from fast fashion to luxury. But why? To minimize production costs: the more identical products produced at the same time, the lower the cost per item for the manufacturer. Here at Tanticchia, we want to run a profitable business by carefully and meticulously producing only what's in demand. You'll need to be patient before you can wear your Tanticchia piece, but we're sure it'll be worth it!

A Tanticchia more transparent supply chain
Transparency and traceability of the supply chain are central elements for Tanticchia.

That's why we do everything we can to ensure that as much information as possible about the supply chain and production processes is accessible to everyone. A QR code has been added to each label, linking to a product sheet containing all the information needed to make informed purchases:

– We include details on material and service suppliers, from raw material producers to the company that supplies us with packaging, indicating, where possible, the country of origin of the textile fibers;

– We indicate the product price specifications as clearly and comprehensibly as possible, specifying manufacturing, material, and fixed costs;

– We've added helpful instructions for caring for and repairing your garment, with links to tutorials and step-by-step guides.

A Tanticchia of Circularity
The clothes we buy should last a long time: they aren't disposable products, and we need to relearn how to value what we own. At Tanticchia, we offer customization services to give you a unique piece designed just for you. Furthermore, if you want to put your sewing skills to the test, we offer upcycling kits with appliques to personalize your garments. When a garment no longer fits, is damaged, or you simply want to renew it, we at Tanticchia take it back and reinvent it, giving you a new and desirable piece. At Tanticchia, we take back your discarded garments, repair what can be repaired, reuse what can be reused, and personally manage the proper disposal of fabrics for recycling.

A Tanticchia less waste
The problem of overproduction is endemic.

That's why we at Tanticchia produce only to order, to avoid contributing to the age-old problem of unsold items. Furthermore, since approximately 15% of the fabric is wasted during the cutting process, we reuse it to make labels and smaller items.
